July 16 - A master-class on cochlear implantation was held in the Republican MIA Hospital named after A.Heydarov devoted to the 50th Anniversary of the Hospital.
Having opened the event with a welcome speech, Chief of the Medical Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Colonel of Medical Service Mahmud Yusifov conveyed greetings of the Minister of Internal Affairs Colonel General Ramil Usubov to guests from Austria, Russia and Byelorussia.
Head of the Hospital and Honoured Doctor of the Republic Colonel of Medical Service Ramiz Akbarov shared the comprehensive information on the history of establishment and development of this healthcare center.
Further, a surgery on two 18-month-old infants performed by Head of a department of the Saint-Petersburg Research Institute of ENT and Speech, leading expert of the International organization HEARRING M.D. Vladislav Yevgenyevich Kuzovkov whose practice counts over 3000 implantations was broadcasted online in the conference room.
It was noted that cochlear implantation was performed in the Hospital of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the first time in our republic. One of the main features of this surgery is timely prevention of future disability in children with congenital deafness. It was also mentioned that similar surgery was performed on two patients a day before.
Resident physician of the ENT Department of the Hospital, Candidate of Medical Science Kamil Yusifov, Head of Surgery Block Zaur Tairov and Doctor Ilgar Eyvazov took part in the surgery.
It should be noted that provision of this medical facility with up-to-date infrastructure, improvement of its logistics also attracted attention of foreign partners. Owing to the joint cooperation, it is expected that starting from September of this year even more unique surgeries will be performed in the hospital.
Medical experts from Austria, Russia and Byelorussia participating in the event delivered their speeches on this innovative surgical method and answered the participants’ questions.
