The international workshop was started in the subject of “prosecution of the crimes of trafficking in human beings and coordination in this direction” in the Khazri Resort and Health Center on March 14 by the joint organization of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan Republic and the US Embassy in Azerbaijan Republic.

The chief of the Head Office for Combating Trafficking in human beings of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the police major-general Sharif Asadullayev has welcomed the guests on behalf of the Management by opening the event, he reminded that the workshop was organized in order to ensure execution of the National Action Plan for the years 2014-2018 on combating trafficking in human beings in Azerbaijan Republic approved by the order of the President of Azerbaijan Republic dated July 24, 2014 and wished good luck to the participants.

The chief of the Head Office has provided information on adoption by the government of about 20 decisions within the framework of National Coordination Mechanism in respect to our Republic’s joining to all international conventions on combating trafficking in human beings since 2005, establishment of perfect legislative system in this field, at the same time rehabilitation of the victims of trafficking in human beings.

He said that the Head Office for Combating Trafficking in human beings, the Asylums and the Hotline service under direct subordination of it have been established in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in order to ensure prosecution of the crimes of trafficking in human beings. It was noted that the Head Office has gathered great experience in the field of prosecution of the crimes of trafficking in human beings during the last 10 years. The head office has kept close contacts with state institutions and international organizations and taken into account their requirements and recommendations in its activities, and the associates share their experiences with their partners.

The authorized representatives of Georgia, Kirgizstan and Ukraine, the experts from the USA, at the same time, the judges of the Supreme Court of the Republic, the judges of the Courts of Grave Crimes of Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan, Baku, Ganja, Shaki, the responsible associates of General Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs, State Customs Committee, State Security, Migration and Border Services, the office of the Commissioner for the Human  Rights (Ombudsman) and the Bar  Association take part in the event to be continued for three days.

it was deemed to discuss the mutual activity of the law enforcement authorities for primary investigation and prosecution of the crimes of trafficking in human beings and forced labor and the issues of provision of legal assistances for the criminal cases, the local and international experience in this field in the event.
